Sakura Blade Camera Strap

This camera strap was braided using a technique called Une-gumi (畝組) .

"Une-gumi" is a traditional braiding technique in Japanese braided cords, characterized by its distinct ridged or ribbed texture.

This method creates a cord with a three-dimensional surface and a firm structure, making it both decorative and durable.

Historically, Une-gumi cords were beloved by samurai and often used as sageo(下げ緒) - the cord that secures a sword’s scabbard to the belt.
The ridged texture provided natural grip, preventing the cord from slipping when threaded through an obi (kimono sash) or wrapped around the scabbard.

One of the unique qualities of this braid is that it ties easily yet resists coming undone, making it both practical and elegant—qualities highly valued in both martial and ceremonial settings.

I incorporated a soft shade of pink into the design.
It expresses the image of delicate cherry blossom petals reflected on the surface of a sword, depicted in tones of black to pale grey.

My strap is made using the technique of traditional Japanese craft, "Kumihimo".
I'm braiding everything by myself.

Please select your preferred finishing from the four choices below.

Option 1. Standard Hand-Sewn Finish

Option 2. With Leather Pads

Option 3. One End: Standard Hand-Sewn Finish / Other End: Japanese Samurai Knot Finish

Option 4. Both Ends: Japanese Samurai Knot Finish

The finishing features a unique style I call the “Japanese Samurai Knot.”
It’s not an ordinary knot — it’s a traditional tying technique once used by samurai to fasten their armor and swords securely.
Designed to never come loose even in the heat of battle, this knot symbolizes both strength and precision.
Once tied, it holds firm — a quiet reflection of the enduring spirit of the samurai.
